You will focus on co-developing, extending, and maintaining software packages from the trapped-ion and atomic-physics domain. The job sits at the interface between domain experts, who may have limited software-development knowledge, and the broader software-development organization. Core responsibilities are coordination, structuring, testing, and continuous integration. You will collaborate with product and setup owners, the engineering and experiment teams, and external partners.

Responsibilities
- Co-develop, extend and maintain software packages for trapped-ion and atomic-physics applications
- Structure software packages and development workflows using common software-engineering tools
- Coordinate requirements between domain experts and the broader software-development team
- Establish and maintain testing approaches and continuous-integration workflows
- Improve maintainability, documentation, and release readiness of domain-specific software packages
Requirements
- Bachelor’s / master’s degree in software engineering, computer science, physics, engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Solid software-development background
- Experience in creating, structuring and managing software packages using common tools
- Strong coordination skills at interface between domain experts and software-development teams
- Experience with testing, code quality practices and continuous integration
- Ability to translate domain requirements into maintainable software structures
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
Nice to have
- Experience in scientific software development, AMO physics, trapped-ion systems, or quantum technologies; AMO knowledge is desirable but optional
- Experience with scientific Python or comparable scientific-software ecosystems
