neQxt achieves 12 fully operational qubits and sets ambitious path to 1,000+ qubits
A major leap forward in our quantum journey: neQxt has successfully achieved 12 fully operational qubits. This milestone is a result of rapid development and strategic scaling since our company's founding. It confirms our commitment to delivering robust, high-performance quantum computing solutions.

How we got here
In late 2022, neQxt was founded with the ambition to successfully compete in the quantum computing industry with its sophisticated 3D ion trap technology. In 2024, the company’s activities saw a period of rapid acceleration, launching new projects and securing vital contracts for development.
We had already achieved one- and two-qubit gate fidelities of 99.99% and 99.8% respectively on some of our systems in the past. Now, reaching 12 operational qubits - on a new system - proves that our architecture can handle increased complexity, and it will maintain the stability required for real-world use cases.
Ambitious and reliable scaling
Our goal for the remainder of this year is to push both qubit numbers and fidelities on the new system. By the end of 2026, we are determined to reach 24 operational qubits, with a two-qubit gate fidelity of 99.5%.
Looking further ahead, we have set ambitious targets. In 2027, we aim to scale our architecture to 50 qubits. And 2028 will mark a critical infrastructure milestone, establishing fully sovereign production capabilities, allowing us to manufacture our systems independently and robustly, while scaling the system to 200 qubits around the same time.
The vision for 2030 and beyond
Scaling physical qubits is only half the equation; managing them reliably is the true challenge. While we expand our hardware footprint, a highly specialized team at neQxt is working in parallel to master quantum error correction, achieving highly reliable logical qubits.
Our target for approx. 2030 involves two major achievements: scaling the number of physical qubits to at least 1000 and successfully increasing our count of stable logical qubits to about 50 to 100.
Moving Toward the Future
With this first public roadmap, neQxt demonstrates its dedication to not just participating in the quantum race but leading it with sustainable growth and industrial-grade reliability. By combining rapid physical scaling with rigorous logical optimization, we are paving the way for a future where quantum computers are powerful enough to solve humanity’s most pressing challenges.
